Skunks news page 7

After a friend came back from Portsmouth he was surprized to hear that myself and the albatross quads was the talk of the town and the question on everyones lips was ..'why was Rob banned from the rev forum'!! Well I am sorry to say that I can't answer that question as I don't remember being given a reason, but I know its to do with the Albatross quads that myself and others had got.
Let me run through the way it went down....I sent off for the grey Albatross quad from china and like on every new kite I get I give my personal opinion of the kite wether its here in the kite den or on facebook, some folks private messaged me to say I was wrong to buy a copy kite but me and many other believe this to be untrue and that the quad in question is not a copy.I had only used facebook to talk about my new kite and listed a link on request of others to the Albatross site,at NO time did I use the rev forum on this subject,I was then informed by John Baressi that I was banned for life from the rev forum and that this has come from higher up the rev family..thats all I know.
Have I broke some unholy kiting rule!have I broke the law!have I heard the end off this! I doult it,but lets see what you all think ....should I have got a ban from the rev forum YES or NO.....click the poll on the left and let me know.
Aeroplane theme
The planes make a great display and are very easy to peg out and leave doing thier thing for the day, sometime when we have enough pilots around we will have a aerial display and loop the loop, swoop and dive around the sky this is not so easy as the planes do pull you around somewhat,So I am looking for a new pilot for the little fighter plane for the next dogfight,no skills needed just a parachute.
Seawick a change of venue
Working every other Sunday makes me really look forward to my Sunday flying day with friends, and even the grey cloudy day didn't spoil my fun this time.I as most times was too eager to get there and arrived at 8.45 and see that the gate to the venue was shut but it was not long after that Darren arrived as well and after the few minutes wait for the gate master to open up we drove to the far side of the field as the wind was coming across from the caravan park and out to sea. We have used Seawick before but a lot of the others have not so it was all new for them and I don't think it was dissapointing as a venue, the fact that we had to use here instead of our normal venue (the Haven) was that there was a tri-athlon going on this weekend at the haven which Colin found out on Saturday as he set up his rev..." HEY you cant set that up there, there's a hundred cyclist coming through here in a minute" Yips Colin quickly pack up the kite and went to Gt Bentley for a fly LOL. Another benifit of being at Seawick was that there was a war reinactment going on at the Jaywick martello tower,a fight between the English and French and we could easy see it from our venue along the sea wall.It started at 2pm and a few of us went along to see what all the banging was, cannons and muskets was being shot and soldiers running around killing each other,I in fact liked watching it all unfold and after a while went back with Danny to fly the revs in the sea. Back on the field Darren and myself being the first early birds there decided to go to the cafe for a tea and coffee, had a nice chat about kite related things and then headed back to the parked cars.Colin had arrived and was looking round for the owners of the other cars..uuu hooo here we are LOL.As soon as we got to him we all had a look at the new kite coming from china (vented rev) and discused the quad and came to the same conclusions that a few alterations need to be made before being offered for sale,so till its ready your all just have to wait. As the minutes went by more and more kiters cars pulled in and started to talk to each other Mark and his kids turned up again and stayed the whole day,and is now a true martello flyer with the group.I welcomed him this time after forgetting who he was (red faced ) and gave him a small foil for the kids,he also showed me a kite he got from China another power kite in red and white, small enough for his son to use, looking over it its just as well made as the quads. By 10am everyone was there and having fun flying all sorts of kites the only one that didn't was Simon as he was worried there was not enough room for his quad.. lol you really got to just relax and fly mate.As the day went by different items went up in the air while the rev heads did there thing in the front of the single line stuff. It was great to have a couple of guest flyers as MARTIN and JOHN from the suffolk kite flyers/essex kite flyers came down for the day to see us.Martin wanted to see my new ring and was very keen to get one for himself or for the club after seeing the size, colour and quality of it. Young Pete broke a lifter with his own kite.. lol.. shouldn't laugh but it usually always someone else that snaps you line,so to do your own line with your own kite who can you blame but yourself. :) lucky for Pete the lifter (sled81)came down just before the sea wall.Thats not to say I didn't have any mishaps cos my kittens leg bridle broke and had to be retied to set its legs back into postion with the help of Bruce and Darren. But the BEST bit of the day was when we see the police helcopter hovering over the sea and a number of police on the beach, one a female officer came over to ask if we ahd seen somebody she discibed but with all the people around we wouldn't have remembered one individual, but she had walked into rev range and DARREN and BRUCE under my command headed in to harass the poor female oficer,Bruce shouting out that it was Rob Brixton flying the kite... lol as if I don't get myselve into enough trouble.Lucky for the lads she found it all amusing and fled down the sea wall out of range.
It was another great Sunday with kite flying friends and I had a great time larking around taking it all with fun and humor as kiting should be,I remembered to get a group photo this time and gathered the kites in one place to get the snap setting my camera on timer and running back into the shot was funny and got everyone smiling for the group photo...well done everyone you all made my Sunday a great time and I look forward to seeing you all again soon..Next time I will remember that summer is over nearly and wear some more cloths lol shorts and t-shirt time is nearly over....
Two dates for your diary Quad flying day SUNDAY 25TH OCTOBER 9.30am(see forum for details) L.U.T.S SATURDAY 7TH NOVEMBER 2pm(see forum for details) More about these coming soon or if you cant wait see the kite den forum for more info.
Sunday the 27th and another meet up the Haven went superb, the wind was just right for my inflatables and other then the bee's all the kites stayed up in the air all day without any tangles.Colin brought along my newest kite that I got of e-bay for just under £20,it was a bit of a impulse buy and more a bit of fun but whhen I made up the diamond kite I was very pleased to see that it had been printed by my friends Roy and Haley at 'KITES UP' so now I have four items printed by them. The white diamond kite is around 5 feet high with a green canabis leaf on it with 'High as a kite' above it and below it says 'class b' lol ...with a slight bridle adjustment for the lightish winds it flew straight and steady with the green plastic tube tail swaying underneath(going to change the tail later). I am making some kite stakes for each of the flyers on the profile page and this weekend Colin and Roger both got there ones, don't worry you will all get yours soon but with new members getting on the profile page it hard to keep up ...talking of new flyers Marks two kids are our newest and the youngest flyers on the field, looks like it gonna cost Mark two more Albatross kites as the kids seem to really enjoy flying the quads and have some of the starting out moves mastered already. It was a great turnout of flyers and partners and it was nice to see Ernie and his wife again flying at our local venue,Ernie had brought a stack of kites of e-bay the same time as me and after a little adjustment to one of the kites in the stack they was sitting up in the sky looking great, another great bargain from e-bay. I did well with my displays with the help of the bee keepers..you now who you are :) the bee theme flew quite well with the honey pot bouncing around and the bee garden spining its flowers in the sunshine,a mum and little girl was so pleased to see it as I was just packing away that I gave the little girl one of the garden bees to take home, she looked well pleased and the mum thanked me for my kindness.. As well as the bee theme up on the sled 81 was...kitten,2 dogs, penquin, red devil and on the sled 36 was my gecko, crab, owl and mouse, and Roger the rhino.Dotted around these was the guitar, elephant, big pink spinner, frog, china bee...as said no trouble at all from all this lot, just stayed up in place all day long, the perfect wind for them. Nine quads was flying throughout the day maybe more as some came later, and a six team of follow that quad was flying round the sky for a while which looked great and was enjoyed by all the public watching, many of the public again thought it was a kite show and was told by myself that it was just a group of flyers that meet once a week here...amazing,beautiul,great,awesome,lovley was just some of there comments. It was so nice it was one of my longer stays up the Haven getting there at 9.15 and staying till 5.30 it was just one of them days where it just all goes right (other then my tangled quad lines)thats Colin and Roger for helping sorting them :) So folks keep a eye on the kite den forum to see where we are next week and it was so nice to fly with you all again and have fun with the kites, see you all soon.
Weekly fun at the Haven This Sundays fly at the Haven was full of surprises,I had made another six new kite stakes for my kiting friends,Stuart,Dee,Mark,Harry,Danielle and Darren all received their personal kite stake and I could see that they liked them by the smiles and thanks.Darrens one was a frog and he told me later that his nickname was 'Kermit' by his old friends, that was a surprise to me as I just made the stake cos I liked the frog.Harry didn't take his off all day and by the end of it it had lost the letter 'R' and a eyeball had fallen out the eye,I have it back to make good again and told him to only wear it when he needs to use it,to save wear and tear. Another surprise was that Colin turned up after saying on the forum that he couldn't make it,but family things changed at the last minute and so his plans could change,as well as this we had a visit from our good friends from the E.K.F in the form of Kelly and Gareth who also brought along another member who flys a rev,his name is Mark(yes Bruce I remembered)Nice to meet you Mark and to get the chance for that chat. The Rev count for this Sunday was thirteen so we all had fun The wind was very unusual for the Haven as it was forever changing direction and blowing at all To end this write up and to give Jason(Dannys dad) a laugh ..yes you know whats coming Danny..at the end of the day when I was packing away I see a dog go right over to where Danny had pegged down his kite and drop a doo doo I thought it had landed on his reel or line it was that close.I informed Danny what had happened and to be aware..'yeah ok Rob' He didnt believe me and when I see him over there he said there was nothing there...wot no I know I see it happen,so I went over to find the mark.See Danny said nothing knew you was lying..I was puzzled not to find the brown mark after the dogs owner cleaned it up,,,HA ha as I moved his delta there under it was the two brown smelly marks that proved I see what I did see,so there stinky hands I wasn't lying, and went back to the gang to tell them and give Danny some more piss taking..LOL
So another good day was had at the Haven by all,NEXT WEEK is O.S.O.W at Rougham so I dont think there will be quite as many at the Haven,But lets make this a challange Haven v Rougham for the most kites up at 3pm count...Yes Martin we will be counting like you do,so my arches will be flying..Lol...so all you Martelo flyers not going I WILL NEED YOUR HELP in getting as much up as possible. Thanks to all for a great time again this Sunday and here are my pictures of the day..yes Danny including the POO.

Another Haven perfect day

messing around and giving advice to the less advanced flyers,a group of seven follow that kite was had for a while and the starbursts were lots better. At one point I had wandered over to the fence and could just get my rev 1 down on the prom and the sea was bashing up the wall making some great spray.I decided to get someone to take some photos of me and my rev down on the prom as I thought it would make for some great pictures,Darren was my cameraman(thanks mate)but we was followed by another few flyers too, maybe they thought I would fall off the promanade wall into the sea...HA no chance, but my kite did! and the surf was bashing it up against the wall so it had to be got out quick again Darren rescued me with his help. The rev flyers had a great time and a good giggle at Dannys first home made rev type quad, don't be put off by this write up Danny you made a great effort and only practice will make better kites, his small and I mean small quad was about 24" wide with rods the size of tree branches,I didn't see it fly but did see it being tried.Maybe try making a diamond kite first to get the hang of stitching and equal lengths if you want some fabric I will give you some next time I see you.
What else was happening on the field well me and young Pete had our single inflatable bags with us and
we put up the 81's Pete hung his Balls on his..LOL sounds rude, and later flew his cat, devil.penquin, parrot and a few other thing.Myself I had the food theme up and the five planes pegged down, only one pilot wanted a go on full lines and that was Kelly, once the lines was equal (sorry Kel must have stretched last flight) she had the plane soaring round the sky and told me after that was so much fun, glad you enjoyed it.I also had the pink spinner on the beacon for the day,got to say this has become one of my favourite things in my bags.Danny borrowed my sled 36 and vegetables, balls and parrachutes as well as having up his delta with tails on the line,Stuart and Dee went to their car to get their latest item off e-bay which was ...OOO NO a tri-plane,I have never had any luck flying those and even though Stuart looked like a kid at christmas putting it together after a 20 minutes of trying to fly it he left it on the ground and gave it the finger :)
different speeds on and off making flying the single line quite hard, when I had a afternoon break Gareth showed me some stuff he had in his trunk(not saying your an elephant mate)a superb caribina and a figure eight clip both huge and just what I need so he said he will get me them for next time, awesome bit of kit for my bag(thanks Gareth)he also showed me a new knot called the Mexican knot that I will be using from now on,this was great for me to get new and useful idea's from others this Sunday and even after near twenty years of flying I am still learning new stuff from others.
